Three reasons players keep fishing

To compete. Several random tournaments run each tsunami, in polyzone areas that reroll every time. A custom UI shows the live 1st, 2nd and 3rd positions with their points, along with your own position and points. Countdowns show when signup closes and when the tournament ends. The top three win cash and items.

To find treasure. Some catches are bottles, and a bottle opens into a treasure map. When a player holds the map, their character turns to point toward the right chest. There are 100 chest locations across the map.

To progress. A fishing reputation gates access to better rods. Rods and lures come in tiers, each with its own configurable minigame, and a crafting bench makes the higher tier rods.
